The New Covenant
God’s Word is the agreement God has with all his followers. New Testament literally means “new covenant” or “new agreement”. This written contract between God and his people covers all aspects of our relationship with Christ. It covers who is responsible for what. It determines what obligations both parties have. It tells us about the rewards and penalties of specific actions. That’s why Psalms 119:105 tells us, “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” To follow Jesus you must obey his word.
